Getting through the day is a challenge for many of us because we feel tired all of the time. Fortunately, there are many supplements that are both effective and safe for increasing energy. Below is a list of supplements that can help you boost your energy:

Vitamin C

Vitamin C helps support the adrenal system. The adrenal glands mobilize the body’s energy sources. You will probably not experience adverse side effects if you take high doses of vitamin C because your body will naturally get rid of what you do not need.

The B Vitamins

The B vitamins are necessary for producing energy If you are not taking in enough of the B vitamins, then your body will not be able to produce ATP. ATP is your body’s natural source of energy. Additionally, the B vitamin support the adrenal glands. It is a good idea to take a B complex supplement because it will supply you with all of the B vitamins you need.

Medical Marijuana Is Changing People’s Lives For The Better

medicalmarijuanaOnce illegal in most areas, many places have now approved the use of cannabis for the treatment of a variety of conditions and symptoms. Cannabis has generally been used to treat the pain associated with headaches, nerve pain, or other conditions. In some areas, cannabis has now been newly approved to treat the following conditions or symptoms.

Cancer

Recently, researchers have discovered that compounds found in cannabis (such as THC) can assist with the treatment of some cancers. Studies revealed that when radiation therapies are combined with treatment using cannabis compounds, anti-cancer treatments were much more successful; tumors were less able to resist radiation treatment. Cannabis treatment has also been shown to lessen some side effects of chemotherapy treatments. Side effects relieved by medical marijuana include: nausea, pain, vomiting, and anxiety. While treatment with cannabis is not approved by the FDA to treat cancer, its usage has been approved in many states for the treatment of cancer symptoms.

Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is a leading cause of decline in mental functioning in the elderly. THC, the active substance in Cannabis, has been shown to relieve symptoms and slow the progression of Alzheimer’s as much as other medications do. This may result in an improved quality of life and possibly greater longevity.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

When a person is traumatized by a life event that threatened the life or well-being of self or a loved one, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may result. The main symptoms are extreme anxiety, paranoia, depression, insomnia, and panic attacks. Treatment with cannabis has been shown in some cases to help improve sleep, reduce anxiety, and relieve panic attacks. More study is needed, however, in order to confirm these early findings. Even so, cannabis has been approved for the treatment of PTSD in several US states.

Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) causes the degeneration and damage of nerve pathways in the brain. The result is a variety of debilitating symptoms. There are many medications currently available to treat MS, but they come with the possibility of severe side effects. Cannabis is a promising treatment since its side effects are much less severe and sometimes non-existent. Some MS patients use cannabis to treat disease-related depression, pain, muscle spasms, and inflammation. In addition to treating these symptoms, cannabis has recently been shown to protect against the degeneration of brain function caused by MS. It has been shown to actually help in repairing damaged nerve pathways.

Seizures

Early studies have revealed the strong possibility of the effective treatment of seizures using a cannabis oil containing cannabidiol but not THC, the active component in marijuana. Early studies revealed that the treatment appeared to cut the number of seizures by half. More studies are needed to confirm the results but several states have approved the use of the oil for seizure treatment when other treatments have not been effective.

First Fish Species Removed from Endangered Species List

In 1993, the Oregon chub was placed on the endangered species list after only 1,000 of the small fish were found to remain in eight wetland areas in the state’s Willamette River Basin. It was a dramatic turn toward extinction for a fish species that was once found in the millions. However, conservation efforts have improved the prognosis of the Oregon chub just as dramatically.

On February 18, 2015, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service announced that the Oregon chub has been removed from both the endangered species and threatened species lists. It’s a historic moment, as it is the first species of fish to ever be delisted by the USFWS because of its recovery.

The Oregon chub is similar to a minnow. It’s a small fish — adults only grow to about 3.5 inches long — and is characterized by olive markings on its back. They are only found in wetlands of the Willamette River Basin in western Oregon and feed on the larvae of mosquitos and other water-borne invertebrates.

Human control over the Willamette River changed the Oregon chub’s ability to survive in side channels, marshes, ponds and other aquatic areas caused by overflow of the river. Damming and building of flood control projects stopped the river from overflowing, which had the consequence of eliminating a means of transportation for the Oregon chub to move to new habitats. Chemical spills, runoff from farms and logging operations and the introduction of non-native fish and amphibians into the environment also contributed to the decline the Oregon chub’s population.

The USFWS introduced a plan in 1998 to increase the number of Oregon chub in the wild. Among the key elements to the plan were:

  • Protecting populations of the species by restoring water flows and floodplains while improving the quality of existing waterways.
  • Stocking Oregon chub in private ponds to increase their population before introducing them back into the wild.
  • Increasing public awareness on the plight of the species.

The multi-pronged approach has paid dividends in increasing the population of the Oregon chub. More than 150,000 fish are now thriving in 80 locations throughout the Willamette River Basin. Wildlife officials now feel confident that the conservations measures currently in place will be enough to allow the Oregon chub to continue to grow and thrive on its own.

The Oregon chub is the first of several fish species which could be removed from protection through the Endangered Species Act. Species of trout and suckers have also grown in recent years thanks to conservation efforts. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife told Reuters that the fact the the Oregon chub is not fished commercially and can be protected with minimal inconvenience to private landowners are two reasons why its recovery was so successful

Scientists Discover Salamanders That Are The Size Of Cars

A team of researchers at the University of Edinburgh recently found the remains of bones that belonged to salamanders. Scientists stated that the salamanders were the size of cars and lived about 220 million years ago. Even though these salamanders are related to the modern salamander, the scientists have stated that they most likely behaved more like crocodiles.

Dr. Steve Brusatte was a paleontologist who led the study. He says that these salamanders most likely were at the top of the food chain. He also stated that the salamanders were one of the main predators in the world during the time that they were alive.

The salamanders had very big jaws, which were used to eat fish. They were also amphibians, so they could not live far away from the water. Additionally, Dr. Brusatte stated that the salamanders would have posed a threat to the dinosaurs or other animal that got close to them. In fact, the scientists believe that the salamanders feasted on dinosaurs.

The researchers found the fossilized bones of at least 10 salamanders. They believe that they will find hundreds more. They have only explored a small portion of the land. Dr. Brusatte says that finding more fossils will help them find out more about the salamanders. They will also be able to find out more about their habitat and their environment.

The researchers also referred to the species as “super salamanders“. They say that a mass extinction occurred about 201 million years ago, and it it wiped out these salamanders and other amphibians like it. These creatures lived on a super continent called Pangea, which started to break apart around the same time that these creatures had become extinct. This extinction made it possible for dinosaurs to become the top predators in the land.

Susan Evans is a palentology professor at the University College London. She says that the scientists discovery is amazing. She also stated this is the first time that the specimen has been found in southern Europe. However, she has stated that similar specimens have been found in the field.

Even though this salamander is related to the modern salamander, Evans says that they are distant relatives. She also stated that humans are distant relatives of the duck-billed platypus.
